FAQ
Short answers to the questions that come up most when adopting Manicat UI.
Do I need Tailwind?
No. Components are styled with CSS modules (React) or plain CSS (Vue) that read CSS variables. The docs examples use Tailwind utilities for layout around the components, and you can use whatever you like.
Is there a package to install?
No. There is no runtime package to keep in sync. The CLI copies source files into your repository and you own them.
How do I update a component?
Re-run the install with --overwrite, then re-apply your changes from the diff. Commit first. See
Customization for keeping edits small.
Can I use a component without the foundation file?
The tokens are required: components read --surface, --foreground and friends. manicat-foundation is added
automatically by the CLI, and you import foundation.css once.
How do I change the accent color?
Set data-accent on <html>, or override --accent and its companions. See Theming.
Does it work with React Server Components?
Interactive components are client components and carry "use client". Import them from server files normally; only
the components that need state cross the boundary.
Which frameworks are supported?
React is complete. React Native and Vue ports exist for a growing set of components, and Svelte and Swift are planned. See Frameworks for the current list.
Why no focus rings?
Focus is shown by the component's surface instead of an outline. See Accessibility for how to keep it visible when you restyle.
Where do I report a bug?
On the repository's issue tracker, with the item id, framework, browser and the smallest steps that reproduce it.
